Is it Hard to Sell Avon?

No, Avon is not hard to sell. Avon is a very well known brand and has been around for more than 128 years. They have very high quality products that are very affordable. There is also something for everyone, men, women and children.

What is a Campaign?

Each Avon brochure is a Campaign. We have 26 campaigns in a year. The campaign number is on the front and back of every brochure. Each campaign has a two week selling cycle. So there will be two brochures per month. Which also means that you will place an order every two weeks or twice a month.

Is There a Minimum Order Requirement?

No, Avon does not require you to have a minimum order size, per order placed. But keep in mind that if you would like to make any money you will need to have at least a $50 order which will start a 20% earnings. Below is Avon’s order size/earning chart:

  • $50 – $149.99 / 20%
  • $150 – $294.99 / 30%
  • $295 – $439.99 / 35%

How Much is the Average Customer Order?

The average order size is approximately $25.

Can a Customer Order From the Previous Brochures?

Yes, they can! Avon allows them to go back two brochures to catch the sales they missed. The item numbers don’t usually change it is the brochure (campaign #) that does. So be sure your customer tells you what brochure that item came from.

What Do I Need to Run a Successful Business?

As an Avon independent sales representative you own your own business. There are items that you will need to help keep your business going such as brochures, samples, bags and basic office supplies. You will receive your first set of brochures in your kit when you start. After that, you will have to purchase them, the more you buy the less they cost. Below is the brochure chart.

Do I Have to Have an Inventory of Products?

No, you are not required to keep an inventory, that is strictly up to the individual representative. If you like to do events or hold parties you may want to order some of the product demos for that current brochure.

Can I Sell Avon Anywhere?

Yes, you can go anywhere you would like to and sell Avon. Avon no longer has territories.

What if There Are Too Many Representatives in My Town?

Don’t worry about that. You will find that many of those representatives only sell to their family and a few friends or coworkers. Besides, you know people that they don’t, so don’t let that hinder you from being the successful representative that you want to be. Just don’t give up!

Does Avon Have Special Training For Their Representatives?

Yes, they do. All representatives have the opportunity to learn more through the online courses on the Avon University (formerly Avon Pathways) the more you learn the more successful you will become.

Can I sell Avon Online Only?

Yes, you can! Avon gives each representative their own eRep website for free to promote their business. Avon helps representatives build their customer base by using the Social Media Center, you are able to promote Avon’s products through Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. Do I Have to Do Parties?

No, it is not a requirement. That is totally up to the individual representative. If you like to do parties, I would definitely recommend them. I have done Avon parties and they are quite fun to do. You may be able to expand your customer base and also grow a leadership team. It is a great way to build your business quickly.  If this interests you Avon offers training and materials to assist you.

Do I Have to Attend Meetings?

No, you are not required to attend any meetings, but I do recommend them if the District you are in has them. Avon has done some changes recently and depending on the District you are in you might have viral meetings, webinars or conference calls to attend. It will help you stay in the loop of what is going on. It is also nice to be part of larger team so you do not feel like you are out there by yourself. Check with your District Manager or the person you are signed up under to receive a schedule.

Do I Have to Pay For Shipping?

Yes, but it is very minimal. Avon has a One Simple Fee program for the shipping. The cost of shipping is based on the total order size and starts as low as $5.95 to the highest of $10.95. We are allowed to charge our customers a .75 processing fee which you can use toward the shipping cost, brochures or samples, etc.

Am I Required to Recruit People?

There are no recruiting requirements as a sales representative. Many people that start with Avon decide they only want to sell the products. As time goes on, they realize that they can make even more money (residual) by sharing the opportunity that Avon has to offer and they join Avon’s Sales Leadership Program. As they grow their team and have become a titled leadership representative, they earn additional bonuses, title advancements bonuses and residual income every two weeks.

Am I Required to File Income Tax?

Yes, you are responsible to file your own taxes. You should talk to your tax person, there are many deductions you can use when having your own business. Avon is not required to send you a 1099 unless you have made more than $500 a year.

What Do I Need to Do if I Decide That Avon is Not For Me?

You need to make sure that you pay any unpaid balance, return any outstanding products, so that you leave in good standing. Then you will want to notify Avon’s Customer Care, your Upline or your District Manager and let them know that you will be leaving Avon.
